Mark Royal

Mark Royal, 53, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2023, at his home in Newport News, VA. Mark was a beloved husband, son, brother, and friend. He was known for his easy-going nature, kind heart, loyalty, and a passion for golf.

Mark was born in Connecticut, but spent most of his life in Newport News, where he graduated from Menchville High School, after which he served 4 years in the US Army’s 82nd Airborne. He was a patriot and displayed his 82nd Airborne Jump Wings proudly.

He graduated from Christopher Newport University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. He was the Communications Manager for the city of Newport News, retiring in 2021. A lifetime member of Kiln Creek Golf Club, he was a passionate avid golfer, dedicated to always improving his game.

He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Rachel; his mother Jerilyn, her husband Tommy Hale; father Allen; brother Dean, his wife Tiffany Ganey; sister-in-law Marcela, her husband Robert Giannini; mother-in-law Lupe Jimenez; several brothers-in-law, several nieces and nephews, his friends plus his beloved golf buddies and golf community. He will be deeply missed by all.
