Mary Jane (Holloway) Strickland Obituary

Mary Jane Strickland, 90, went home to be with the Lord on December 29, 2025. She was born on October 11, 1935, to the late Evelyn and Ellison Holloway and was a lifelong resident of Poquoson.


Mary cherished time spent with her children, her beloved dog, Buffy, and her bird, Bubba. She loved staying connected with friends and family, especially through long phone conversations. Mary worked as an archivist in the tape library at NASA with SAIC until her retirement. She was a faithful member of Abundant Life Tabernacle Church in Hampton. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, fishing with Jay, watching football, and traveling.


She is reunited in Heaven with her loving husband, Jay Strickland; parents; brother, Billy Holloway; son; Frankie Cawley; daughter, Debra Daughtry; stepson, Terry Strickland; daughter-in-law, Anita Cawley.


Her memory is cherished by her children, Connie Hotaling (Bob), Curtis Cawley; stepsons, Timmy Strickland and Rodney Strickland; grandchildren, Jami Anthony, Curtis Cawley, Jr., and Josh Daughtry.


A visitation will be held from 12:30pm-1:30pm on Monday, January 5, 2026, at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home with a funeral immediately following at 1:30pm at the funeral home. Immediately following the service, a burial will be held at Parklawn Memorial Park in Hampton.  


Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Aid Society in Hampton.
