Mary Ann James Creasman passed away Sunday, May 16, 2021, just 6 days short of her 89th birthday. She was born in Lavonia, Georgia, May 22nd, 1932 to Lura Ann and W.L. James. She grew up in Waynesville, NC moving to Virginia at 19 years old following her husband Olas when he got a job at the Newport News Shipyard. Mary Ann lived in Newport News, Hampton, Poquoson, Gloucester, Freeman, and Suffolk, Virginia, residing in Suffolk for the last four years.
Mary Ann is preceded in death by her husband of almost 65 years, Olas G. Creasman, Sr.; her parents; grandson, Joey Lee Creasman; step-grandson, Barry Earley; son-in-law, grandson-in-law, 5 sisters, and 3 brothers.
Left to cherish her memory are her two sons Olas G. Creasman, Jr., Chris Creasman; four daughters, Lorrine Brewer (Jim), Marilyn Earley (Ron), Jennifer Graham (Neal), Marty Forrest (Ken); 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary Ann was a homemaker, raising 6 children, and later in life worked as a nurse's aide, and managed a campground convenience store. She loved to sing and dabbled in writing songs. She was self taught in playing guitar.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 21, 2021 from 10-11 AM at Poquoson Baptist Church with a funeral service immediately following at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at Parklawn Memorial Park following the service.
