Melissa Roe-Jones Obituary

Melissa Dawn Roe-Jones, 48, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and resident of Poquoson for 43 years passed away Friday, January 7th, 2022 at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News.
Melissa was born on May 14, 1973 in Newport News, VA.  She was the daughter of Cathy Roe and the late Dale Roe.  Melissa attended Poquoson City Public Schools in her youth, then she attended Christopher Newport University where she received a B.S. in Psychology followed by a Master’s Degree in Reading Instruction from Old Dominion University.

Melissa was a strong, loving, compassionate, and fiercely independent person with a fighting spirit that was evident in all that she attempted and achieved even into the health challenges that she recently faced.
Melissa is survived by her loving husband of 22 years, Eugene Jones Jr., daughters Jordan and Taylor, devoted mother Cathy Roe, all of Poquoson; brother Brian Roe and sister-in-law Melissa Roe, nieces, Madison, Bailey, Mackenzie, Colbie, and nephew Griffin of Fisherville, KY; Uncle Craig Roe of Gore, VA, Aunt Carole Hart and Uncle Kirby Hart of Prince George, VA; cousins Jason and Daniel Hart, Father-in-law Eugene Jones Sr. and Mother-in-law Jacqueline Jones and very special friends Jenny Blazvick and Ann Forrest, and a host of close friends, faculty, and students who all loved her very much.
