Michael "Jeff" Jeffrey DeRyder

Michael Jeffrey DeRyder “Jeff”, 60, played his last chord on August 17, 2022.  Jeff grew up in Hampton, VA and graduated from Kecoughtan High School, class of 1980.  He worked for over 20 years as a Master Electrician.  His true passion was his love of music and playing his guitar.  Jeff played in numerous local bands throughout the Hampton Roads area.
Jeff is survived by his son, Michael Phillip DeRyder; granddaughter, Caroline Elizabeth DeRyder; stepson, Derek Austin Whiteside (Ashley); mother, Carolyn B. Nill; father, Leonard Joseph DeRyder, Jr. “Buddy”; stepmother, Dariene D. DeRyder; sisters, Terri DeRyder Hall, and Kathi DeRyder; nephews, Ben Topping (Nicole), and Brian Hall (McKenzie); great nephews, Easton and Graham Topping, and many other loving family and friends.  
Jeff touched the lives of many people through his music and his memory will live on through those of us who were fortunate enough to know him and hear him play.  Jeff would always want you to remember to let your soul shine!  
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, August 28th from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the Poquoson Yacht Club, 417 Messick Road, Poquoson, VA 23662.
