Michael Alan (Mike) Bryant, 64, known as the Voice of Poquoson, died on July 25, 2022 after a 3 month fight with brain cancer. Mike was preceded in death by both of his parents, Floyd R. Bryant and Elizabeth Bryant. Mike leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Joy Snyder Bryant and their daughter Taylor Nicole Bryant. Mike loved Taylor beyond measure and their love for “Disney” resulted in many trips to WDW which will forever be memories to cherish. The family’s 3 fur babies; Sophie, Mia and Roo will miss their Treat Giver.
Mike also leaves behind; a brother, Randy Bryant and a sister Judith Cahoon (Bill). Sisters-in Law, Jenny Snyder and Allison Snyder. Nieces; Katy Higgins (Chris), Julia Crowe (Matt), Caroline Bryant, and Jillian Snyder. Nephews; Micah Peed (Shannon), Spencer Snyder, Quincy Snyder, Steve Lemons (Lori ), Brett Cahoon and Jeff Cahoon (Kayla), several great nieces and nephews, Emma Garrison (Taylor’s BFF and Mike and Joy’s “Other Daughter”), and many lifelong friends, including Shipyard and Poquoson Sports friends.
Mike gave 43 years to the Newport News Shipyard. His great past time was volunteering for his community which included being a sports announcer for not only the high school sports but also the city’s football and baseball leagues. His talent for doing this was surpassed by the care and professionalism he gave to his announcing and making certain that each player, no matter what sport he was announcing, felt important when their name was called.
Mike was many things to many people but above all, he was Daddy to Taylor and Dude to Joy. His love for family and his community will be the legacy he leaves behind.
A celebration of Mike's life will take place 1 p.m. Monday, August 1st at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, Poquoson, Virginia
