Nancy Lawson Rollins

Nancy Ellyn Lawson Rollins, 76, went to be with the Lord, on Thursday January 4, 2024, in Poquoson, Virginia, surrounded by family in her home. Nancy was born on February 25th, 1947, to Charlie Lemuel Lawson Jr. and Ruth Elllyn Estes Lawson. She grew up in Hampton, Virginia and graduated from Hampton High School in 1965. 

She was married to William M. Rollins Jr. for 56 years until he was called home last December 2022. Nancy excelled as a homemaker and mother while raising four children, and finding time to nurture many beloved pets and farm animals through the years. Will gifted Nancy her first horse, Santana, on her 30th birthday, that she treasured for its lifetime. Whether it was birthdays or holidays, she was always preparing for the next big family gathering or celebration.

One of Nancy's greatest passions was her love of sports. Nancy took great pride in watching her children and grandchildren play, and she rarely missed an Atlanta Braves or Washington Redskins (Commanders, we know) game. Additionally, she enjoyed scrapbooking with friends, gardening, shopping, and weekly meals with loved ones. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Poquoson, and participated in a weekly women’s bible study. 

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents Charlie and Ruth Lawson; brother: Charlie Lemuel Lawson, III, and husband, William M. Rollins, Jr. 

She is survived by her children, Bethany Abston (Lee), Bonny Wiggins (Scott), Joe Rollins (Amy), June Forrest (Dave); grandchildren, Carrie Wilbanks (Caleb), April Lutz (Tim), Jolie Wiggins, Trevor Wiggins, Hayley Rollins, Lexie Rollins, Macie Jo Rollins, Camden Holcomb, Katie Holcomb, Crosby Forrest, and William Forrest; great-grandchildren, Dorothy Lutz, August Lutz, Virginia Lutz; and loving dog, Sadie. 

The family will receive friends 2-3:30 p.m. Sunday, January 7th at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home. A celebration of Nancy’s life will take place at 11 a.m. Monday, January 8th at Trinity United Methodist Church with the burial immediately following at Weston Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church or St. Jude.
