Nancy "Margi" Wissinger Obituary

Margi Wissinger, 83, of Poquoson, VA, entered Heaven on Easter morning, Sunday April 5, 2026, after a brief illness. She was surrounded by the people she held dearest and who felt the same about her, in the home she filled with love on all levels.

Born Nancy Margianna Frank on December 29, 1942, in Hillsboro Texas, she was always known as Margi to her family and friends -- of which there were many -- including lifelong bonds stretching back to childhood, and particularly her beloved Baylor University friends who still Zoomed regularly.

But the greatest and most treasured relationship was with her husband of nearly 61 years, Ken Wissinger. They met on a blind date in 1964 while she was a senior at Baylor and he was stationed at James Connelly Air Force Base in Waco. Married on July 17, 1965, they together embarked on an adventure that spanned multiple military bases, distance during the Vietnam War, three children, a camper which criss-crossed the country, the joy of retirement travel to far corners of the world, the love of becoming grandparents, and deep commitment to her community through volunteer work at the Spinal Cord Injury Center at the Hampton Veterans Administration Hospital, the Charles Parish Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Honor Flight Network Historic Triangle, and Poquoson Kiwanis Club. Margi will be missed by so many.

She is survived by her husband Lt. Col (Ret) Ken Wissinger of Poquoson; son Greg Wissinger of Portland, Oregon and his fiancée Sonnie Schall Serian; daughter Laurel Lennon (John) of Denver, CO; daughter Tricia Wissinger of Colorado Springs, CO; and grandsons at college Owen Lennon and Liam Lennon: plus the countless dear members of extended family in Texas and Pennsylvania. She is preceded in death by her parents, W.W. “Ollie” and Emma Frank, and her brother Stephen L. Frank.

A memorial service at 3 pm, followed by family visitation, from 4-6 pm will both be held at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home in Poquoson on Sunday, April 12. She will be laid to final rest in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date to which friends and family will also be welcomed.

For those wishing to honor Margi outside of the love the family already feels, floral arrangements are being handled by Floral Fashions of Poquoson, and a holiday fund for residents of the VA’s Spinal Injury Center will be set up through the DAR. Or, please support any Veterans’ organization that holds personal meaning individually.

Arrangements and heartfelt guidance through Claytor Rollins Funeral Home.
