Nathaniel Linwood Saunders Jr.

Nathaniel Linwood Saunders Jr., 90, passed away on September 11, 2023. He was born on July 23, 1933, in Hampton, VA to the late Beulah Conover Saunders and the late Nathaniel Linwood Saunders Sr. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mrs. Barbara Watson Saunders.

Known by many who knew him as “Bubba” or “Nat”, Nathaniel was of the Baptist Faith. He worked for many years as an Electrician for I.B.E.W. Local #1340, and C & O Railroad, before retiring to the Blairs, VA community. He was also a member of Carter Lodge #323, A.F. & A.M., and past member of Poquoson Lodge #49 in Poquoson, VA.

In addition to his wife, Nathaniel is survived by a son; Charles “Chuck” Saunders and wife Indiana of Spring Hill, FL; three daughters; Terrie Davis of Danville, VA, Faith Ann Axsom of Poquoson, VA, and Tina Lindsay of Blairs, VA; 8 Grandchildren, 9 Great-Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great-Granddaughter.

In addition to his Mother and Father, he was predeceased by a son; David Paul Saunders; a brother; Donald “Ducky” Saunders; and a sister; Barbara Weyant.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 18, 2023, with Masonic Rites being provided by Poquoson Lodge #49, at 11:00 a.m. at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, 836 Poquoson Avenue, Poquoson, VA 23662. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park, 2551 North Armistead Avenue, Hampton, VA 23666.
