Norman Arthur Hines lived a rich and meaningful life for 86 years. Born and raised in Wallingford, Connecticut, he was the only son of Marion and Norman William Hines.
It was in Wallingford that Norm first met Barbara, who would become his beloved wife of 58 years. Together they built a life centered on family, raising two children, Jeffrey and Pamela. He was a proud father-in-law to Steven Tankard and a devoted grandfather to Evan Hines, Kyleigh Tankard, and Macon Tankard, each of whom he cherished deeply.
Norm was a graduate of the University of Connecticut and remained a lifelong fan of Huskies basketball. He dedicated 30 years of his career to Hallmark Cards, where he was a valued and respected employee.
Second only to his love for family was his passion for golf - a love he inherited from his father. Norm spent countless hours on the course, most notably at Cedarwood Country Club in Charlotte, where he not only played regularly but also served as Club President.
In addition to golf, Norm and Barbara shared a love of travel. Whether exploring international destinations or enjoying the freedom of RV adventures across the country, they created many lasting memories together.
Norm often wondered whether his life had left a mark. For those who knew him, the answer is a resounding yes. He never met a stranger and formed meaningful, lasting friendships wherever he went. His warmth, kindness, and genuine spirit left an enduring impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
