POQUOSON – Orville Hastings Forrest, 95, died Saturday, December 2, 2023. Orville was born in Poquoson on November 4, 1928, to Henry Stephen Forrest, Sr. and Edna L. Saunders Forrest. Orville is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lois Hall Forrest; daughter, Dana Forrest; son-in-law, Joseph M. Zawodny; granddaughter, Eva C. Zawodny. Orville was a 1945 graduate of Poquoson High School. Orville retired from Fort Monroe as a civil servant after more than 40 years of service. He was a lifelong member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church. He was also an avid gardener and enjoyed researching his genealogy.
Orville was preceded in death by his parents; son, Orville (Butch) H. Forrest Jr.; brother and sister-in-law, H. S. Forrest, Jr. (Roselyn); great niece, Mary Ann Forrest Rector. He is also survived by nephews, Daniel W. Forrest (Betty), H. Stephen Forrest, III (Kay); niece, and Mary Conrad; great nieces Kelly; great nephews, Cleveland, Matthew (Amy), and Carson as well as their children.
A graveside service will be held at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. by Rev. Bob Cooper.
