Pamela Curtis age 72 was called home March 10, 2026 after a long illness. She was born in Japan July 25, 1953 and adopted by the late David E. Minor and Anita A. Minor. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her beloved father-in-law Jesse Curtis and nephew Drew Curtis. She had strong ties to Poquoson, Newport News, and York County and was a resident of Newport News.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 20 years, Jesse (Marty) Curtis, children: Amber Grant (Robert), Dawn Vaughan, Emily Gore (Andy), and Brian Curtis (Marci); grandchildren: Carson Vaughan, Margaret Grant, Virginia Grant, Lydia Grant, Anya Sutor (Isaac), Abby LaPrairie (David), Gabe Jernigan, Jesse Curtis, Rebekah Curtis; great grandchildren Rowyn LaPraire, and Elijah LaPraire; beloved mother-in-law Jean and brother-in-law Dennis (Darrell) , their daughter Laura Ann (Damian) and their son Hagan; best friend and sister of the heart Linda Via and her daughter Suzanne Dennis (Tim).
As a child Pam, was a Girl Scout and participated in band as a clarinet player. She enjoyed the game of golf and absolutely loved watching tennis. She enjoyed music, was a fabulous cook and had a knack for organizing social events. She loved spending time with family and friends.
Pamela was an administrative assistant over the course of three decades at various positions in Poquoson, York County, and Newport News. She retired as the Executive Secretary of the Fire Chief for the city of Newport News.
A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at 1:30 pm at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at 3pm the same day at Peninsula Memorial Park.
Her family would like to thank the staff of Heartland Hospice, Commonwealth Assisted Living and Colonial Manor for their loving care during her illness. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Alzheimer’s Association or your local Girl Scouts.
