Robert Raymond Bennett

Robert Raymond Bennett, 81, passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2023. A native of Aurora, IL Bob was a resident of Poquoson for the last 36 years. He served his country in the Army’s 82 Airbourne, went on to work for FERMI Lab in Illinois for 18 years until 1987, and then retired after 32 years from CEBAF/Jefferson Labs. He loved golf, boating, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Robert was a faithful parishioner of St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church where he was a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus.

Preceded in death by his parents Ray and Madeline; brother, Rick; son, Don; grandsons, Aaron and Bobby, and daughter-in-law, Lynette, Bob is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Marti; children, Debbie (Brett), Laurie (Rick), Steve (Sarah), Clay (Beth) and Chris (Scott); daughter-in-law, Tammy; 23 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren as well as many other loving relatives and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Poquoson Volunteer Fire Department or Poquoson Volunteer Rescue Squad.

A Memorial Mass will be held 12 noon, Saturday, September 9, 2023, at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church, 3800 Big Bethel Rd, Tabb, VA 23693.
