Robert "Bob, Jr." Mitchell Insley, Jr.

Robert (Bob Jr.) Mitchell Insley Jr., 78 years of age, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Tuesday, July 12, 2022, after a brief illness. Born at his childhood home in Messick, VA on September 9, 1943, Bob Jr. was a lifelong resident of Poquoson, VA for all but 5 years which he lived in Ringgold, GA.  Bob Jr. began his working career in construction and NNSDD Co., and joined Dow Chemical in 1963, in its fibers division located in Williamsburg, which later became B.A.S.F. Corporation.  He worked in many departments before retiring in 1998 as the Safety and Ecology supervisor at the Dalton, GA location with 35 years of service.  Bob Jr. is a life member of the Poquoson Volunteer Fire Department and has served as their past President.  He was also a founding member and past president of the Classic Cruisers Car Club. Bob, Jr. was a current employee at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home where he utilized his amazing gifts in service to countless families within our community. Bob Jr. is a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Poquoson, the Wesley Fellowship Sunday School Class, and a member of the J.O.U.A.M. Yorktown Council #66.  He enjoyed boating, clamming, commercial cardholder and crab scraper, fishing his Jumper net, classic cars, woodworking, and a fixer and repairman of all things.  But most of all, Bob Jr. enjoyed spending time with his family and telling stories.

Bob Jr. is preceded in death by his parents Bob and Rea Insley, his sisters Polly Topping and Frances Wheless, and his son Kenneth Insley.  Bob Jr. is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Edith Wade Insley, his daughter Gail Insley Beagle and husband Mark Beagle, grandsons Matthew Beagle (Sara) and Michael Beagle (Chrissy), and great-grandchildren who affectionately called him “Big Daddy”, Thomas Beagle, Lucas Beagle, Marley Ann Beagle and baby Beagle due in January 2023.

Visitation will be held Saturday, July 16 at 2pm at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home, 836 Poquoson Ave., Poquoson, VA.  A funeral service will be held Sunday, July 17 at 2pm at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1294 Poquoson Ave., Poquoson, VA by Pastor Tricia Riggs and Pastor Matthew Beagle.  Burial will follow at Emmaus Baptist Church, 814 Yorktown Road, Poquoson, VA.
