Robert Gene Insley, Sr. “Bobby”
July 31, 1939 – December 31, 2022. He was a lifelong resident of Poquoson, VA. Bobby and his wife, Thelma Via Insley, were married for 47 years.
He is survived by his daughter Terri Insley Schurer (Shawn) and son Robert G. Insley, Jr. (Donna). Grandchildren include Joseph Casey Carr, Robert Corey Carr (Carin), and Brianna Insley. He loved and adored his great-grandchildren, Kiernan Gabrielle, Liam Quinton, Cameron Ellis, Colton Anson, and little Shelby Lynn. They brought great joy to his heart and a smile on his face.
Bobby was a master machinist in the Shipyard for 43 years. His expertise lead to being on a Tiger Strike team and inventing part of the catapult system on Navy carriers.
He was an avid sports enthusiast and supported local athletes for decades, but he love the Redskins and Braves the most.
Bobby was a church elder and a statesman in the community. He was faithful, loved the Lord, and heaven gained a God fearing, saintly man. He will be greatly missed by all.
Viewing is January 5, 5:30-7 at Victory Christian Center, Poquoson.
Funeral services is January 6, 1:30 at Victory Christian Center and burial 3:00 at Parklawn Cemetery.
