Ross Edward Balthis, 60, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 21, 2025. He was born on October 14, 1964, to parents Roy and Thelma (Peachie) Balthis in Newport News, Virginia.
Ross graduated from Poquoson High School, Class of 1983 where he was active in the band and jazz band. An avid swimmer, Ross swam for the Beaconsdale Blue Marlin’s Swim Team in the 1970’s and attended Resurrection Lutheran Church where he was baptized and confirmed. Ross graduated from St. Leo University and Golden Gate University earning a master’s degree in public administration. He served on the Virginia Beach Police Department for several years before becoming a NCIS Agent in Federal Law Enforcement where he retired after 20 years of service.
Preceded in death by his parents; he leaves to cherish his memory, sister, Dinah Balthis and brother, Paul H. Balthis; as well as his niece, Emilee Brooke Balthis and many cousins.
A memorial service will be held at a later date to be determined in the future. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to your favorite charity in Ross’s name.
