Sharon was born on April 30, 1950. She passed away July 10, 2026, on her 44th wedding anniversary. She was preceded in death by her father Johnnie Lewis, mother June Wells, and stepfather Richard Wells. Left to preserve her memory is her husband Johnny Pauls, sisters Dale Sorrell (Jim), Johnnie Jennings (AC), and brothers- in law Lester Pauls (Fimiah) and Lynn Pauls (Ray). Additionally, she is survived by 3 nephews Hamilton Hendrix, Ashton Hendrix (Tracy) and John Pauls (Amanda).
Sharon graduated from Poquoson High School in 1968, earned her bachelor’s degree from Virginia Tech in 1972 and her master’s degree from Colorado State University in 1976. She retired from Poquoson City Schools in 2007 after a very successful teaching career. During her career she was twice selected as VADETS state driver education teacher of the year and she coached the girls’ gymnastics team to a state championship in 1980.
A visitation will be held at Tabernacle United Methodist Church Poquoson from 1:00-2:00 on Thursday July 16th followed immediately by funeral services.
