Shirley Ferguson Evans, age 77, born July 19th, 1942 died June 4th, 2020. Lifelong resident of Poquoson. She retired from Poquoson city schools. She was a devoted christian. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She loved the mountains and traveling. She was a graduate of Poquoson high school class of 1962.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Lemuel Vaden Evans Jr. ; Daughters, Sharon Evans Smith and Shannon Evans McMichael; Grandchildren, Thomas Smith (Emily), Jonathan Smith,Chris McMichael, and Brittany McMichael; Great-Grandchildren, Audrianna Hockaday-McMichael, Leslie Smith, Leon Hockaday-McMichael, and Dylan Smith; Loving sister, Margaret White (Earnie) and many nieces,nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents Henry C. and Indiana Ferguson, sisters, Emma Lee West (Jim), Laura Lotkowictz (Ray), Serena Malmstrom (Carl), brother Alfred Moore, and also an infant brother.
All funeral arrangements are being made by Claytor Rollins funeral home. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Riverside Regional Medical Center for the loving care and comfort for our mother.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at Peninsula Memorial Park. Any guests planning to attend please enter through the Nettles Drive gate and remember social distancing while in attendance.
