Shirley Joanne Payne Bahn

Shirley Joanne Payne Bahn, beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away, after a brief illness, on April 2, 2022 surrounded by her family. Born on December 7,1932 in Niles, New York, she was the youngest of two children to Roy and June Payne. 
Ms. Bahn graduated from Auburn Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and went on to become a Registered Nurse and then Director of Nurse’s at numerous facilities in New York, Tennessee, Florida, and Virginia over a fifty plus year career. 
She loved her children and grandchildren more than life itself and enjoyed sailing and being on or near the water, Jazz music, Ballroom dancing, both watching and playing tennis and her main love was her animals of many years. 
Ms. Bahn is preceded in death by her husband, Werner Messerschmidt; son, Kurt Messerschmidt; parents, Roy and June Payne; brother, Robert Payne. She is survived by her children, Duane Messerschmidt (Kc Lynn), Sheryl Chance (Ron), Jeannine Huff (Bob); daughter-in-law, Ann Messerschmidt; sister-in-law, Helga Immerfall; grandchildren, Zachary Messerschmidt, Nicklaus Messerschmidt, Laureen Messerschmidt, Collin Chance, Corey Chance, Charlie Chance, Kenneth Lacsamana, numerous nieces, nephews as well as many other loving relatives and dear friends..
There will be no local services at this time. A graveside and celebration of life will be held in New York in July. The family will announce the updates as they become available. In lieu of flowers please make any donations to the SPCA in Ms. Bahn's name.
