Sue Hart Leary

Sue Hart Leary, 84, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, August 17, 2022. A native of Newport News, born on November 30, 1937, Sue graduated from Newport News High School in 1955 where she was the head cheerleader in her senior year. She loved living in Germany and traveling across Europe. Sue worked as a secretary both at Wiesbaden Air Base in Germany in 1959 and on and off at Langley Air Force Base retiring in 1993. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a dedicated member of St. Matthews Anglican Church in Newport News.

Sue loved to travel, spending time with her family and food.

Preceded in death by her father, Richard Harper Hart; mother, Ruth Weidman Hart; brother, David Leonard Hart, Sue is survived by her children, Karen Leary Rinehart (Steve) and William Garland Leary, III (Kim); grandchildren, Crystal R. Nies, Rebecca R. Daugherty (Tim), Morgan P. Leary, and William G. Leary IV; great-grandchildren, Ruth Nies and Jesse Daugherty as well as many other loving relative and dear friends.

A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, August 22nd at Parklawn Memorial Park, Hampton. The family will receive friend 2:30 – 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Dementia Society of America, St. Matthews Anglican Church, or the American Heart Association.
