Susan May “Sue” Arnold, a native of Kane, Pennsylvania, passed away on Sunday, July 17 at the age of 80 after a long illness. A resident of Newport News since 1984, Sue worked at Farm Fresh on Warwick Blvd. She and her husband Chuck later co-owned and operated Color Graphics on Jefferson Blvd. Sue enjoyed spending time with family and friends, watching golf and tennis, listening to music at the yearly Summer Concert Series and visiting wineries across Virginia.
Sue is preceded in death by her parents, William Ralph “Willy” Carlson and Joyce Louise Carlson, and by her husband of 61 years, Charles Stephen “Chuck” Arnold, Jr. She is survived by her twin sister, Sandra Johnson; younger sister Vickie Carlson; brothers, Michael Carlson (Linda); Robert Carlson and Stephen Carlson (Tonya); children, Laurie Atalla; Charles “Chris” Arnold III (Kathy); and Jason Arnold (Paula); grandchildren, Heather Jackson (John); Jennifer Jourden; Hollyann Arnold; Kristen Davignon; Julianne Foster (Darren); Jeffrey Arnold and Madelyn Arnold; great-grandchildren, Zoey, Zackary, Isabella and Anabelle.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society. At the family’s request, the burial will be held privately at a later date.
