It is with profound sadness the we share the passing of our mother, Grammy, and friend. Valerie Kenney, 73, passed away on November 28, 2022 peacefully, with no pain or suffering. She was born on Aug 22,1949 in Pennsylvania. She grew up in Hampton, VA and graduated from Hampton High School. Valerie earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Christopher Newport College in Newport News, VA. Because of her love for history, she decided to become a teacher and spread her knowledge to the next generation. For most of her teaching career she taught at Menchville High School in Newport News, VA. She was a faithful servant of the Lord and was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Hampton, VA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Seymer and Inez Brown. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Shannon and Michael Griffiths. She is survived by her grandchildren, Kyle Nierman and Kaden Wanamaker.
There will be a gathering of family and friends 1 - 3 p.m. Saturday, December 3rd at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home in Poquoson, VA.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to either the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
