William Davis Bryant, 35, departed this life on September 11, 2021. He is survived by his mother; Julie Holloway Bryant, father; William Wesley Bryant; brothers, Parker James Bryant (Holly) and David Jurgenson (Posie); and grandparents, Norman and Judy Holloway and William and Grace Bryant. Additionally, William leaves many uncles, aunts, and cousins to treasure his memory. William was a scholar and earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Richmond and advanced degrees from Yale University, Ohio State University, and University of Colorado. His love of Japanese culture led him to study Japanese both at home and abroad. As a graduate student at University of Colorado, William contributed to the book Monsters, Animals, and Other Worlds: A Collection of Short Medieval Japanese Tales by translating a poem from The Tale of Tamamizu. William loved literature, nature, and all things beautiful. In his spare time, he practiced Japanese calligraphy. His family and close friends were important to him, and he enjoyed spending time with those he loved. William’s love of life, sense of humor, and positive attitude enriched the lives of all who knew him. A private service will be held for close family and friends.
