Woodrow “Woody” Everette Hitt, 78, went to be with the Lord on June 18, 2023. Woody was born on January 16, 1945, to Bobbie Bruce Britt Hitt and Jesse Everette Hitt in Newport News, Virginia.
Woody served his country and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He loved to play golf and watch football and loved spending time with his friends and family. He was also a Mason at Poquoson Lodge No. 49. Woody found God and was a Christian man.
Woody is reunited with his parents, Bobbie Bruce Britt Hitt and Jesse Everette Hitt; and twin brother, Fredrick Jesse Hitt.
His memory is cherished by his loving wife of 24 years, Nina Hitt; children, Karen Rogers, Robert Dotson, Jr. (Kim), Thomas Dean Dotson (Angela), Amy Mercado (Eddie); grandchildren, Danielle Dornbush, Chase Dornbush, Devon Rogers, Robert Dotson, III (Manoe), Christofer Dotson (Karen), Casey Corbin (Brad), Morgan Jacobs (Cory); Kristina Thompson, Eddie Mercado, Jr., Megan Campbell great-grandchildren, Colton Dornbush, Charlotte Rogers, Kylie Marie Dotson, Christofer Allen Dotson, Jr., Luka Dotson, Benjamin Dotson, Cyrus Dotson, Rowan Dotson; brother, Bruce Hitt and JoAnn Hitt; sister-in-law, Joan Lewis Hitt; nieces and nephews, Mark, Ireland and step-grandchildren, Emily Marie Minne (Kevin), Lori Hitt Lorson (Jayson), Whitney Hitt Culp (Chris), Harrison Hitt, Maggie Hitt Hall (Payton); great nieces and nephews, Mackenzie Minne, Logan Culp, Christian Culp, Trey Hitt, Tanner Hitt, Carter Hall and Lawson Hall; special friends, Donnie and Sandy White of The Villages of Florida; Woody’s best friend Wally and wife Debbie.
Services will be held at Claytor Rollins Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at 5:00PM with a visitation to immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity. A special thanks to son Robert Dotson and girlfriend Kim for caring for Woody since his diagnosis of cancer.
